Lights, camera, baby

With all the devices we have now a days to take pictures, it's hard to keep track of all the pictures we take. I have my iPhone, a Nikon, a camcorder, a MacBook, and a little Sony camera (not to mention Aman's iPhone when mines runs out of space). It's no surprise that storing all of these has become difficult. My MacBook has no more space and moving all of the photo's becomes a big hassle and all of picture folders become a mess once moved to the external hard drive.:( So for now I have been deleting so many pictures, I figure it's probably impossible for anyone to look at all of the pictures I  have saved up to this point in a lifetime! That's what finally got me to update my blog.

Aniyah is two months today!

Foot obsession

They lay and play while I clean their room

I was fortunate enough to stay home with the kids until Aniyah was five months old. During this time I learned that being a stay at home mom is CRAZY! You wake up with the kids, eat with them, use the restroom with them being within a very close proximity (sometimes standing in front of you-Aamira), cook with them, and then sleep with them and then do it all over again the next day. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE my kids, but I realized how much I appreciate them and vice versa once I started working again. Once Aman went back to work I spoiled myself and went to my moms a lot once she got home. Eventually I began staying home with the kids the whole day instead of visiting mom and I am so glad I did. I learned how to keep them entertained by taking them on walks, and entertained myself by talking to people I met along the way.

I could watch them forever

My routine was to make Aamira breakfast and set it on the table so that she would learn how to eat it by herself. After the kids were fed we would go out for a walk or play in front of the house. Aamira always picked up a tree branch by the lake, she would break small red berries on a bush, and then we would play "mommy and daddy" with leaves on a bench. She would run to the end of our street and reenact a scene from the movie Frozen. We would then go home eat lunch and take a nap. I really got to know a lot of our neighbors during this time and Aamira introduced herself to a lot of the kids nearby. I finally met my Indian neighbors and learned that we shared a lot of the same interests.

Aamira loved to hide in the kitchen when Aman got home and run out and give him a hug (I was jealous). My favorite thing to do with them was be outdoors, kiss Aniyah's little chin and feet, and watch Aamira act out different scenes from her favorite movies.
Hi-yah

I could kiss your cheeks all day long :)

First family walk

Both of them have a poopy diaper

Our routine all changed when we went to North Carolina to visit Simi and the family. Aman was panicked about us being on the flight and we both cried when he dropped us off at the airport (the perfect hindi movie scene). I was so nervous about taking the kids on a flight all by myself but I met a really nice couple from Tennessee and a lady from NC who helped me out during the flight. Adjusting to the time change was quite a challenge but having my sister to talk to while all the kids played was the best thing ever. Simi has become a great cook ( I have taught her well ;))...or eating food when someone else cooks is yummier :). We enjoyed our TV and cha time, and hanging out on the patio while sneaking girl scout cookies.

It was so nice having everyone visit NC all at the same time, my dad was the only one who didn't end up coming along but I am sure he regretted it after seeing our family photos. Aman's cousin and her husband also ended up coming to visit so we had a full house. Simi had a birthday party for all of the girls and we got to meet all of her friends. Aamira was in the bouncy house for hours that day, and Aniyah was being her little cute self staring at all the other kids having fun. Aamira cried almost every night we were there saying she wanted "dada" and wanted to go to "mama house," but when she was playing with the kids during the day she was perfectly fine and wouldn't even talk to Aman on the phone. Leaving NC was so hard, reality hit me...I had to start work a week later and the title of being a stay at home mom was going to change to a working mom.
A little after starting work at UCD, I found another job really close to home. I was so excited to start on a new journey but was upset that I wouldn't get to see my awesome co-workers on a daily basis again. Before this transition we took a trip to Canada to go to my cousin Manjot's wedding.
So good...but so baddd

We had a great time at the wedding events and visiting downtown Vancouver (minus the parts where Aamira had insanely loud tantrums in public settings). We had LOVED the food, we had an Indian styled pizza, cholay patoray, Mediterranean food from a food truck, sushi, and Nandos. I didn't expect have such a great culinary experience, but I am so glad I did.

It is now the end of June and Simi, Kal and the kids have been visiting and will be here until the end of summer. We have been trying to hang out as much as possible and I am enjoying spending time with my nieces. I am always excited when we get to spend time with each other, but in the back of my mind I know they are going back home soon. Any how, I will continue to take my millions of pictures and try to find an effective way to store them. We will be getting concrete in the backyard soon so I plan on posting some before and after pictures. Being a mom is crazy, but taking pictures of each moment that has given me a way to see my kids at any time in the day. I will click away on my phone until I can no more. Lights...Camera...Action!

Little Miss Aniyah

As usual months have flown by and I haven't been able to post a thing. Aniyah Kaur Virk was born on December 7, 2014....and yes I know she is almost two months old...I should have posted this a LONG time ago. I went shopping with the family in Walnut Creek the night before and began to feel contractions while we waited for a table a Tomatina (not nice to keep a full term pregnant lady waiting). I was feeding Aamira pizza and got so emotional thinking that now I would have to divide my love and attention between my two little loves and Aman knew exactly why I was upset (crazy guy knows me too well).
Say cheese

She thinks she is one of them
Staying home with Aamira during my maternity leave was awesome, we slept in, took naps, and went shopping. I really cherished each moment since I knew I would need to devote a lot of attention on the the baby when she was born. Aamira was SO into the movie Frozen, she acted out the scenes, sang the songs and had to run and leave the room to sing certain songs. She would always climb my bed frame and say "I am going to find my sister..your going to kill yourself," it wasn't after Aman and I watched the movie again that we realized that she was acting out a scene in the movie.

Shopping with Anu Maci
I was on a mission to do as much as possible before Aniyah was born. I bought presents for all my neices, and my first nephew (Samarjot). I was shopping at the Gap like  madwoman picking up things left and right, shopping online to make sure I didn't forget anyone. I purchased a comforter set for our bed, a Christmas tree, and even a nice new pair of boots for myself. It took the longest time for me to find a take me home outfit for Aniyah, I looked at so many outfits online, returned one outfit (and had to pay for shipping :-/), and finally found something I liked. I LOVED it when I saw my little one wearing it.
After nap attitude

The tree was naked after Aamira pulled off the needles

I had contractions all night after coming home from Walnut Creek but I tried to sleep as much as I could since I knew sleep would not be possible at the hospital. At about 10:00am on Sunday Aman and I went to the Vallejo Kaiser. Little miss Aniyah was born at 4:46pm, thankfully the labor was pretty short (mom and Aman were in the room with me). I felt pressure and asked the nurse when someone would check how dilated I was, about 20 minutes later you popped out ;). They put her right on my chest and I remember looking at Aman and getting teary eyed. I knew I loved her the second I looked at her. Aman brought Aamira in the room and she looked happy and confused. It took me about a month to stop feeling bad that I couldn't hang out with Aamira as much. Now we all sleep together and read to the kids each night which means we are back on track (okay maybe not every night).
Welcome to the world my little one

So sweet must eat

First day home

Aman had two weeks off to stay home with me but I didn't ask him for much help this time around since I wanted him to take care of Aamira. We brought Aniyah home when she was one day old, Aamira came home and walked up to me and said, "That's my blanket," and she took the Minnie Mouse blanket off her sister (little evil). I have been doing as much as I can to involve Aamira when I take care of Aniyah, she finally let Aniyah share her blanket and I know she is a great sister (just a little rough). She always says, "Hiya Aniyah, hi my little baby sister." I love to hear her talk to her sister, she sounds so happy and always pats her when she cries...even if she's half asleep.

December 7, 2014
Simi and the family all were over last week and it was so nice having a full house. Aamira had a blast with Suhanna and Saharra but she was mean to Samirra most of the time. It was interesting to see her interact with everyone and finally she played happily with Samirra on Saturday (phew). I miss my sister being in California, I really pray they get to move back soon so the kids can play, fight, and grow up together.

First walk after having Aniyah

Time seems to be flying by, Aniyah will be two months old in four days. She already smiles and coo's when someone talks to her. Her smile makes me want to hold her forever. I cried already thinking about going back to work, for once I wish I could win the lottery just to stay home with my baby girls (okay maybe just enough to pay for my house).
Love these little rascals

Six weeks old
Being home is hard with a little one since I am limited to where I can go, but I am slowly making my way out of the house to get some fresh air with the girls. Aniyah's first real outing was with Simi Maci and the girls to the Nut Tree park in Vacaville. She slept most of the time but Aamira and I really enjoyed being out of the house.
Bam

I still have a lot to blog about, Anu's wedding, Aamira's second birthday, and a few other things that I can't remember. Aamira watched tangled for the first time the night Aniyah was born, she now runs around with a chunni acting like she is Rapunzel and she says that the chunni is her hair. She stood in the stairs with her chunni hanging down and told me to climb her hair. She also says "the witch cut my hair and now my hair is black," "my pony tail is too long it's slowing me down," a few other things but she is the googliest. I love both my baby girls, thank you Babaji for blessing me with them. If I could be a stay at home mom I wouldn't mind having more of these precious little beings (I would be going crazy I know but I would love it). I love you little miss Aniyah, I can't wait to see what little evil things you do as you grow older. :)
